4 Day 3 Nights Highlands Route
On the day before your tour starts, you’ll need to travel to Ha Giang City, as the Loop begins at around 8:00 AM the following morning.
We can arrange your bus for you during booking, with pickup options from Hanoi, Ha Long, Sapa, Ninh Binh and Cat Ba. The bus will bring you to Road Kings’ Retreat, our home base in Ha Giang City.
That night, we provide free dorm accommodation for all guests. If you’d prefer a private room, you can book something in the city and meet us in the morning.
Start the morning with breakfast at the hostel, meet your group and go through the route before setting off.
We’ll make regular stops at viewpoints throughout the day before finishing at Du Gia Waterfall, where you can swim and relax.
That evening, we stay in Du Gia and enjoy dinner at the homestay.
Day two takes us along some rougher, quieter roads towards Ban An Stream, where we stop for the bamboo river float, cave and a swim.
From there, we continue through remote Ha Giang scenery before taking the Nho Que River boat cruise.
That night, we stay in the local town of Meo Vac.
If it’s Sunday, we can start with a visit to Meo Vac Market.
From there, we ride up Ma Pi Leng Pass and do either the White Cliff hike or Sky Walk, depending on the weather.
We then continue towards Lo Lo Chai, the flag viewpoint and the northernmost point of Vietnam before spending the night in Dong Van.
That evening, you’ll have time to explore Dong Van Old Town.
The final day takes us back towards Ha Giang with stops including Lao Xa Village, where we visit a local Hmong silversmith family, Tham Ma Pass, Twin Mountains, Heaven’s Gate and Bac Sum Pass.
From there, we return to Ha Giang and finish the tour.

4 Days / 3 Nights
The Ha Giang Loop has so much to offer that no company can fit everything into four days. That’s why Road Kings gives you the choice to focus on what matters most to you.
Both 4-day itineraries are around 75% the same, with both including waterfalls and highland scenery. This itinerary focuses more on the far north around Dong Van and Meo Vac, where the roads climb higher and the scenery becomes more dramatic.
Around 380 km in total. Most days start around 9:00 AM and finish around 4:00–5:00 PM.
We stop regularly throughout the day, usually every 30 minutes or so, for viewpoints, activities, coffee, food and time to enjoy the scenery.
All itineraries are subject to change depending on weather, road conditions, availability and operational requirements.
Day Zero: Arrival in Ha Giang
Take the bus to Ha Giang, either arranged through us or booked yourself, and arrive at our hostel.
Your pre-tour night is included in a shared dorm, giving you somewhere to rest before starting the Loop the following morning.
Day 1: Ha Giang to Du Gia
We make regular stops at viewpoints throughout the day before finishing at Du Gia Waterfall, where you can swim and relax, then stay the night in Du Gia with dinner at the homestay.
Day 2: Du Gia to Meo Vac
Rougher, quieter roads lead to Ban An Stream for a bamboo river float, cave and a swim, followed by the Nho Que River boat cruise, before spending the night in the local town of Meo Vac.
Day 3: Meo Vac to Lung Cu to Dong Van
On Sundays we can start with Meo Vac Market, then ride up Ma Pi Leng Pass for the White Cliff hike or Sky Walk, continuing to Lo Lo Chai, the flag viewpoint and the northernmost point of Vietnam, before an evening exploring Dong Van Old Town.
Day 4: Dong Van to Ha Giang
The final day includes Lao Xa Village and its local Hmong silversmith family, Tham Ma Pass, Twin Mountains, Heaven’s Gate and Bac Sum Pass, before returning to Ha Giang to finish the tour.
What Every Package Includes
Both packages include the motorbike or Easy Rider depending on your booking, fuel, helmet, reusable rain gear, protective gear, four breakfasts, four lunches, three dinners, one large bottle of water each day, one morning coffee each day, accommodation during the Loop, and the included activities and entrance fees. (Carried over from the other pages -- please double check this is right for the Highlands route.)
Social Dorm Package
During the Loop, accommodation is in shared rooms or dorm-style accommodation.
Transport to and from Ha Giang is not included, but we can arrange buses for you for an additional cost.
Private Room Package
The Private Room Package includes everything above, plus a private room each night during the Loop.
It also includes your bus to Ha Giang from Hanoi or Sapa, with a VIP bus when available.
You’ll also get one drink with lunch, one drink with dinner, and one additional coffee, smoothie or similar café drink each day.
If you’re travelling to Ha Giang from somewhere other than Hanoi or Sapa, we can adjust the package price accordingly.
The return bus after the tour is not included, but we can arrange it for you.
Night Zero is shared dorm accommodation for both packages.
Not Included
The Border Area Permit is 250,000 VND per person and is not included.
Personal travel insurance and motorbike damage insurance are also not included.
The return bus after the tour is not included, and the arrival bus is not included with the Social Dorm Package.
Additional drinks, personal expenses and tips are also not included.
Both packages follow the same route and include the same locations and activities.
The main difference is what is included. With the Private Room Package, you’ll have a private room each night on the Loop, a pickup bus from select locations, and a few extra drinks included during the tour.

This Highlands 4-day focuses more on the far north around Dong Van and Meo Vac, with the Ban An Stream bamboo float and cave, the Nho Que River boat cruise, Ma Pi Leng Pass, and a visit to the northernmost point of Vietnam.
The Waterfall 4-day focuses on Du Gia Waterfall, the Ngoc Long River bamboo boat and cave experience, and a night in the traditional Clay House Village in Quan Ba.
Switching from the 3-day tour to a 4-day tour is usually not ideal because the itineraries normally travel in opposite directions.
Yes. If you are self-driving and decide that you no longer want to continue driving, we can usually switch you to an Easy Rider.
There will be an additional cost because we need to send a driver out to meet you and arrange for your motorbike to be transported back to the city.
Yes, but you need to meet the legal and riding requirements.
You must have an International Driving Permit under the 1968 Convention with a motorcycle endorsement that matches your home driving licence. You also need to bring your national driving licence with you.
Before the tour, you will need to pass a short riding check with our team. As long as you can ride safely and keep up with the group, you can self-drive.
If you are unable to do this safely, you will need to switch to an Easy Rider at your own expense.
An Easy Rider is an experienced, licensed local driver who rides the motorbike for you while you sit on the back.
All of our Easy Riders are licensed and highly experienced.
Yes. The Ha Giang Loop is definitely not only for people in their 20s and 30s.
We regularly have guests in their 50s, 60s, and even 70s joining our tours.
As long as you are comfortable being on a motorbike for longer periods of time, we believe you will really enjoy the trip.
We do not cancel tours just because of rain, as rain is very common in Ha Giang.
However, if roads are badly flooded or there is a serious risk of landslides, we may change the route or, if necessary, cancel the tour for safety.
No. The motorbike is your responsibility during the tour.
If you would like motorbike damage insurance, we can arrange it for you.
The insurance costs 50% of the daily motorbike rental price. For example, if the motorbike costs 300,000 VND per day, the insurance would cost 150,000 VND per day.

When you book your tour on our website, we can help arrange buses from several locations in northern Vietnam.

Most return buses leave from our hostel around 6:00–7:00 PM on the same day the tour finishes.
You should take the bus to Ha Giang the day before your tour starts.
There are both daytime and overnight bus options available, so you can choose whichever works best for your schedule.
The important thing is that you arrive in Ha Giang before the morning of your tour.
Your main bag should be a backpack of around 40 litres or smaller, as larger bags are difficult to carry on the motorbike.
We also recommend bringing some cash, preferably in smaller notes, sunglasses, and a towel for swimming stops.
A small shoulder bag or day bag is also useful for keeping things like your phone, wallet, sunscreen, and other essentials easy to reach while you are on the road.
During the summer months, especially from June to August, Ha Giang can be very hot and the sun can be strong. Lightweight long sleeves, sunscreen, swimwear, and breathable clothing are recommended.
During winter, temperatures can get very cold and can sometimes drop below freezing. Bring warm layers, including a jacket, sweater, long pants, warm socks, and even gloves.
We provide high-quality rain gear. If you prefer to use your own rain gear, you are welcome to bring it, but it is not necessary.
If you are self-driving, make sure you bring your 1968 Convention International Driving Permit and your home driving licence.
Travel insurance is encouraged.

During these months, the weather is generally not too hot, not too cold, and usually not as rainy as other times of the year.
