Can you self-drive on your licence?

Vietnam only accepts International Driving Permits issued under the 1968 Vienna Convention — a different, older format, such as the 1949 Geneva Convention, would not be accepted.

An international driver's licence (1968 type), with a motorcycle endorsement.

You'll also need your licence from back home, and it needs to match your IDP.

Drive safely and keep up to speed — we cover a lot of kilometers each day and need to stay on schedule.

Day 1 Bike Test

On the morning of Day 1 we'll run a short test loop. If you don't pass it, you won't be able to self-drive.

Are there any rules to self-driving?

At any point, if the guide feels you cannot drive safely or up to speed, you will be switched to an easy rider for the remainder of the tour (at your expense).
You must stick with the group at all times.
Abide by traffic laws.
No alcohol or beer allowed.

The bike is your responsibility

The bikes must be returned in the same condition as you received them. In the event of damage or loss, you will be required to cover the costs of repairs or replacement.

Guests can optionally purchase a Motorbike Damage Waiver for an extra 50% of the normal daily rental price (90,000 VND per day for the included bike).

This waiver covers accidental damage to the Road Kings motorbike, like falls, scratches, broken mirrors, plastics, indicators, levers, up to 10 million VND.

Mechanical failures from normal riding are our responsibility, but damage caused by clear misuse or negligence is not covered. For example, riding in an inappropriate gear for long periods, ignoring serious mechanical warnings, or deliberately misusing the bike.

Not covered at all: reckless or intentional riding, racing or stunts, alcohol or drugs, unauthorized riders, third-party damage or injury, theft due to negligence, or costs above 10 million VND.

The Honda Blade is included in every tour package. Prefer more power or a full-manual bike? Upgrade for a daily fee.
