What is needed to self drive?

International Driving Permit

An international driver’s license (1968 type), with a motorcycle endorsement.

Your Home License

You’ll also need your license from back home, and it needs to match your IDP.

Keep Pace

Drive safely and keep up to speed — we cover a lot of kilometers each day and need to stay on schedule.

Day 1 Bike Test

On the morning of Day 1 we’ll run a short test loop. If you don’t pass it, you won’t be able to self-drive.

Are there any rules to self driving?

  1. At any point, if the guide feels you cannot drive safely or up to speed, you will be switched to an easy rider for the remainder of the tour (at your expense).
  2. You must stick with the group at all times.
  3. Abide by traffic laws.
  4. No alcohol or beer allowed.

The bike is your responsibility

The bikes must be returned in the same condition as you received them. In the event of damage or loss, you will be required to cover the costs of repairs or replacement.

What bikes do you have?

The included bike is a semi-automatic Honda Blade 110cc — a great choice if you’re not familiar with riding a full manual motorbike. It is REQUIRED that you upgrade to a full manual bike if you’re riding with a passenger on back.
